Five Tips To Get The Most Out Of Your Lawn-Klink & Son.jpg

If you're on a quest for the perfect lawn, there are bound to be challenges that you will face. However, a soft, green lawn is a beautiful thing, and it doesn’t have to be out of reach. If you’re looking at growing a lush, healthy lawn to its very best, and are prepared to put in all the effort and care you need to make your yard worth it, here are Klink & Son’s five tips to getting the most out of your lawn.

As experts in property maintenance in Stoney Creek, ON, with these tips, we will help you nurture lush, healthy grass in thousands of acres or a single lawn.

Tip #1: Fertilize regularly.
Nitrogen is the most important nutrient for a lawn, so look for a mix of fast- and slow-release fertilizers that will green up your lawn quickly, and feed it over time.

Tip #2: Water more but on fewer days.
Water for an extended time but fewer times a week for better results. Keep in mind that just wetting down the grass isn’t watering the grass. You need to soak the lawn, so the soil moisture goes down several inches.

Tip #3: Top dress and overseed.
If your lawn is a little thin in areas, you can seed over the area to help lush it up. Fall is the ideal time to reseed cool-season grasses. Plant warm-season grasses in late spring.

Tip #4: Aeration in the spring to help jump-start your lawn.
After a freezing winter, soil can become compacted from the weight of the snowpack. A spring aeration is a perfect way to help alleviate this compression. Aeration will create thousands of tiny little pockets for oxygen to hit your turf’s root systems and allow your lawn to breathe and help reach fertilizer to the roots quicker.

Tip #5: Cut the grass in different directions to strengthen your lawn.
Each time you mow, do it in a different direction. If you always cut your lawn using the same pattern, your grass learns which direction it’s being cut from and begins to lean in the direction you mow. It will ensure your grass stands up nice and tall.
