The Challenge: A grub-infested lawn

We once had a client come to us with complaints that his lawn was spotty due to the presence of lawn grubs. The lawn was also torn up by skunks who came to feast on the grubs. He was disappointed in the appearance of his lawn but wasn't sure how to tackle the problem. Our client was looking for an efficient solution to get rid of the lawn grubs and skunks to bring his lawn back to its full beauty.

The Solution: Flooding the lawn

The first thing we needed to do was get rid of the grubs in the most efficient way possible. We don’t encourage the use of pesticides unless absolutely necessary, which is why the easiest way to get rid of grubs is to flood the lawn. As we were flooding the lawn, the grubs came to the surface for air as they were drowning. The birds in the area swooped down and ate them all over a short period of time.

By getting rid of the grubs, we also eliminated the problem of skunks tearing up the lawn as there were no more grubs to dig up.

The only thing left was the problem of the torn-up lawn. We easily fixed this by some top dressing and overseed with lots of water until the seeds germinated and created a stronger and healthier lawn. Overseeding is the planting of grass seeds directly into existing turf, without tearing up the turf, or the soil. It’s an easy way to fill in bare spots, improve the density of turf and enhance your lawn’s color.

While dealing with the three problems was easy, our biggest challenge was time, as flooding took time along with germination of the seeds. In total, it took us a little less than two months to complete everything and have an established lawn and a happy client. He was thrilled with the result and was proud to show off his beautiful lawn.
