]]>I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
My father, Paul Klink, started a property maintenance company in 1996, and I grew up helping him with small jobs including landscaping, and snow removal. When I was old enough, it felt natural to follow in his footsteps and join the family business.
Over the past two decades, I’ve noticed that the enterprise has expanded and serves a wide variety of customers. Our motto is that we are “big enough to do the job, but small enough to care.”
Therefore, we work hard for our customers, and I believe what sets us apart from the others is our honesty and integrity. We always aim to satisfy our customers’ requests by carrying out efficient processes and using the best equipment possible for the task at hand.
I also attribute our success to my father’s leadership acumen, and I strive to imbibe his core values. Consequently, we treat customers with the utmost respect, which builds mutual trust and has made us grow exponentially.
Witnessing our year-on-year growth has given me immense satisfaction, and I hope to continue along the same successful path for many more years to come.
When I’m not maintaining my clients’ properties, I love to play a round of golf. During my downtime, I also enjoy being outdoors with friends and having fun with my dog.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
If you or someone you know could benefit from my expertise as an experienced property maintenance professional in Stoney Creek, ON, I invite you to get in touch. Please visit my website at www.klinkandson.com.
Sincerely,
Nick

]]>1. How can I have a green and healthy lawn?
To maintain a healthy, green lawn, cut and trim it every week. You’ll also need to fertilize it four times a year and water it during the dry period.
2. How often should I aerate or roll?
When you notice pools of water in some regions of your lawn, make sure you aerate those areas. Similarly, when the water runs off, there are worn patches in your lawn or a lot of thatch built up, you should aerate it. If possible, try to prevent rolling your lawn as it reduces the space that fills with air and water, depending on the moisture level in your soil.
3. Should I bag when I cut?
Grass clippings provide nutrients to the soil and are good for the lawn’s growth. So, you can leave the clippings behind after trimming your lawn.
4. What is a good way of controlling weeds?
To control weed growth, add mulch to your flower beds. Also, fertilize and water the lawn to maximize its health. This will choke out obnoxious weeds and ensure your plants thrive.
5. What is the best way to maintain a sharp-looking lawn?
For clean, sharp-looking lawn, you need to hire a professional and determine a maintenance plan. You can discuss your needs with your property maintenance contractor and formalize your agreement through a contract.
6. How can I determine who is reputable?
The best way to find reliable landscape contractors is to check their BBB reviews. You can also look them up on Landscape Ontario and review their website for more details about their services. Despite these steps, if in doubt, you can always ask the contractor for a couple of references.
7. What is another way of determining reputation and reliability?
Another way to check for reputation and reliability is to see how long the professional has been in business. Poor business practices do not result in longevity, particularly in this highly competitive industry.
8. What if I am still a little skeptical?
If you still have doubts about the professional landscaper you’re considering, ask them for a few addresses of properties looked after by them. You can visit these places and look for yourself and even ask the property owner if they are pleased with the service they receive from their contractor.
If you have any more questions about maintaining your landscape, garden, or yard, get in touch with the experts at Klink & Son. As the leaders in property maintenance in Stoney Creek, ON, we promise you top-quality service. We’ve been in business for nearly twenty years and are well recognized within our community. ]]>My father, Paul, started this business over twenty years ago, and I believe his dedication to providing reliable property maintenance services helped form the industry into what it has become today.
He is a well-respected pioneer of the landscaping and property maintenance industry, showing our community that his services are valued across the region. His lawn care practices paired with exceptional customer service have become a staple in Hamilton and Stoney Creek, ensuring our neighborhoods look as nice as they are to live in.
Paul started this company from a van towing a trailer to a three crew company. This business has a small success rate and investing money and time was a huge risk. The Klink and Son gamble paid off, turning his eye for beautiful landscape, hard work, and dedication to customer service into an invaluable business loved throughout many communities in Hamilton.
Not only did Paul know how to deal with customers, problems and situations properly, he also set a standard within the industry. He taught me these skills and values which I carry into each business interaction with our customers to this day. In my opinion, this industry would not be what it is today without the leadership and hard work of my father.
At Klink and Son, we not only believe Paul is the heart of our business but the heart of the landscaping and property maintenance industry. We take pride in maintaining 100% customer satisfaction and would love to help your property look its best.

]]>As experts in property maintenance in Stoney Creek, ON, with these tips, we will help you nurture lush, healthy grass in thousands of acres or a single lawn.
Tip #1: Fertilize regularly.
Nitrogen is the most important nutrient for a lawn, so look for a mix of fast- and slow-release fertilizers that will green up your lawn quickly, and feed it over time.
Tip #2: Water more but on fewer days.
Water for an extended time but fewer times a week for better results. Keep in mind that just wetting down the grass isn’t watering the grass. You need to soak the lawn, so the soil moisture goes down several inches.
Tip #3: Top dress and overseed.
If your lawn is a little thin in areas, you can seed over the area to help lush it up. Fall is the ideal time to reseed cool-season grasses. Plant warm-season grasses in late spring.
Tip #4: Aeration in the spring to help jump-start your lawn.
After a freezing winter, soil can become compacted from the weight of the snowpack. A spring aeration is a perfect way to help alleviate this compression. Aeration will create thousands of tiny little pockets for oxygen to hit your turf’s root systems and allow your lawn to breathe and help reach fertilizer to the roots quicker.
Tip #5: Cut the grass in different directions to strengthen your lawn.
Each time you mow, do it in a different direction. If you always cut your lawn using the same pattern, your grass learns which direction it’s being cut from and begins to lean in the direction you mow. It will ensure your grass stands up nice and tall.

]]>More often than not, lawn care is affected by the existence of widely believed landscaping myths that are considered as best practices. These notions are supported by all kinds of information, much of which is untrue and may damage your lawn.
To help ease your troubles and gain access to accurate information, Klink and Son, have debunked two of the most widely believed myths about lawn care.
Myth 1: Compression is good for lawn growth.
This is utterly false as compression inhibits lawn growth. It’s always suggested to use a lightweight roller on your lawn so that the lawn seeds get room to breathe and grow.
Myth 2: Too much water will damage the lawn.
On the contrary, lawns can never have too much water. Underwatering a lawn could lead to significant issues with the health of the lawn. As a lawn owner, you will gradually be able to tell what your lawn requires and how to react to it.

At Klink and Son, we provide expert property maintenance solutions in Hamilton & Stoney Creek, for commercial and residential properties. Keep reading to learn about how we helped a client tackle a destructive, annoying pest problem.
The Challenge: A grub-infested lawn
We once had a client come to us with complaints that his lawn was spotty due to the presence of lawn grubs. The lawn was also torn up by skunks who came to feast on the grubs. He was disappointed in the appearance of his lawn but wasn't sure how to tackle the problem. Our client was looking for an efficient solution to get rid of the lawn grubs and skunks to bring his lawn back to its full beauty.
The Solution: Flooding the lawn
The first thing we needed to do was get rid of the grubs in the most efficient way possible. We don’t encourage the use of pesticides unless absolutely necessary, which is why the easiest way to get rid of grubs is to flood the lawn. As we were flooding the lawn, the grubs came to the surface for air as they were drowning. The birds in the area swooped down and ate them all over a short period of time.
By getting rid of the grubs, we also eliminated the problem of skunks tearing up the lawn as there were no more grubs to dig up.
The only thing left was the problem of the torn-up lawn. We easily fixed this by some top dressing and overseed with lots of water until the seeds germinated and created a stronger and healthier lawn. Overseeding is the planting of grass seeds directly into existing turf, without tearing up the turf, or the soil. It’s an easy way to fill in bare spots, improve the density of turf and enhance your lawn’s color.
While dealing with the three problems was easy, our biggest challenge was time, as flooding took time along with germination of the seeds. In total, it took us a little less than two months to complete everything and have an established lawn and a happy client. He was thrilled with the result and was proud to show off his beautiful lawn.
The Bottom Line

]]>When it comes to caring for your lawn and its maintenance, often, people don’t realize that there is more involved than what you see on the surface. In the past, a couple of set ideas and practices related to landscaping were considered as best practices, and everyone followed them. However, these notions which were once deemed to be true have now been proven false.
There are all kinds of information about landscaping floating around and it has become difficult to separate fact from old wives’ tales. Occasionally though, everyone needs a little guidance. We at Klink and Son, have debunked two myths that will you save money and keep your lawn healthy and greener.
Myth 1: Spots or bare patches require a new lawn.
Often, bare spots can be caused by lack of water or lack of nutrients, and the immediate response shouldn’t be to get a new lawn. Just simple watering, a little top soil and a few seeds, can work wonders and bring back the grass to a pristine condition.
Myth 2: Grubs in the lawn requires a new lawn.
Not true! Grubs can be removed in a natural and efficient manner simply by flooding your lawn. The excess water will force the grubs to come to the surface for air, and the birds will come down to eat them. It’s the most efficient and less expensive option available.

]]>Coming home to a beautiful outdoor space is always relaxing. If you have a green sea of grass around your home then it’s sure to brighten up your mood, not mention making your lawn the envy of the neighbourhood! A lush green lawn not only adds more curb appeal to your home but it also has the potential to reduce your stress levels and improve your wellness.
If you’ve been trying to get a perfect lawn but it’s not coming out right, it might be time to reevaluate your strategy. For a perfect, green lawn, you’ll want to avoid these landscaping mistakes.
Assuming rain to be enough. Most of the time rain isn't enough; additional water is required along with a good quality fertilizer to maximize the strength of the lawn. During the spring when it rains less frequently and temperatures are high, you must know that your lawn needs more water. You can stick a long screwdriver in the ground to see how deeply moisture is penetrating in the soil. If the ground is bone-dry a couple of inches down, you need to water for longer periods of time to allow the water to sink deeper into the soil. You can also install sprinklers to water your lawn; it will save your time and efforts.
Ignoring holes in lawn. Holes in your lawn could mean you need a whole new lawn. Sometimes a less expensive route with some soil, top seed and water can bring back those bare spots. Also, you can try a blend of planting soil with sand and/or compost to fill in lawn holes. Do check with your local extension agent or garden center for specific soil recommendations for your area.
Preferring bagging over mulching. Bagging collects clippings when grass is cut whereas mulching allows grass clippings to fall easily on the soil surface which is broken down by microorganisms later on and it releases nutrients back into the soil giving it an extra boost. Although bagging leaves fewer clippings on lawn making it look neater, mulching is much better if you consider its advantages. Also, bagging grass consumes far more energy, if you think about the waste, from making the grass bags and transporting heavy loads to the dump. Once they get to the landfill, the nutrients that could go back into the soil are totally wasted. So prefer mulching over bagging the grass clippings.

]]>I’m Nick Klingender, proud owner of Klink and Son
I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
I grew up in Hamilton, Ontario and studied at Niagara and Mohawk Colleges. My father Paul established Klink and Son in 1996. As a family-owned business, it was natural for me to join the company, landscaping, property maintenance, and snow removal.
At Klink and Son, we specialize in lawn mowing, lawn maintenance, snow removal, and cleanup services during spring and fall season. Our office is located in Stoney Creek, ON and we provide our services in Hamilton, Grimsby and the surrounding areas.
As the business owner, I have varied responsibilities. I wake up early in the morning and work for an average of eight hours a day. I check and reply to customer emails. I meet and speak to customers to understand their needs. I also lead the crew when we are on site and perform the necessary safety checks. At Klink and Son, our primary objective is to provide our customers with quality services. The most enjoyable part of my work is when I see the results of a property that we’ve worked on
I combine a hard-working attitude with my organizational and problem-solving skills to perform at my job. The most important decisions I face are related to efficiency and problem-solving. I attribute my success to building relationships with my clients and providing quality service. The most satisfying moment in my business is when we end a season successfully.
My dad has influenced my leadership style. Through his example, he inspired me to do everything to the best of my ability.
Besides my business, I admire Gelderman Landscape Services, another Ontario landscaping company. I also respect Cedar Springs, a water company based in Toronto, well known for its commitment to quality, customer service, and convenience.
When I’m not working, I enjoy going to the gym and spending time with family and friends.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
If you or someone you know could benefit from our expertise in landscaping and property maintenance in the Greater Hamilton Area including Burlington, Waterdown, Ancaster, Aldershot, Dundas and Grimsby, I invite you to get in touch.
